Jumolhari base Camp Trekking

 
(“AA” 7 Days Trek)
 
This trek starts at Paro, following the Pachu (Paro River) upstream literally to its source passing through scattered hamlets and farmland, into a deep and richly forested valley, which further leads to a high alpine pasture land where yak herders graze their animals. Besides, Mt. Jumolhari and its adjoining range have impressed visitors to admit as one of the most beautiful peak. The trek offers a taste of great variety of Bhutanese landscape.
 
 
Itinerary:
 

Day 01: Arr. Paro
Day 02: Paro S/s
Day 03: Trek begins from Paro-Shana
Day 04: Shana-Soi Thangthaka
Day 05: Soi Thangthaka-Jangothang (Base Camp)
Day 06: Jangothang Halts (Excursion)
Day 07: Retrace downhill to Pangyohsa (Past Soi Thangthaka)
Day 08: Retrace past Shana to tsento village
Day 09:Trek ends and drives to Thimphu via Paro
Day 10:Thimphu S/s
Day 11: Thimphu S/s and drives to Paro for departure


WHAT TO BRING FOR A TREK IN BHUTAN

Personal clothing: strong normal clothing (according to season). Preferably cotton, even for summer, woolen clothing for the evening and winter.

For trekking, one must bring:

  • Sleeping bag (down, 0-5 degree Celsius)
  • Strong comfortable trekking boots – water-resistant for the rainy period-June-August.
  • Sunscreen
  • Flash light
  • Rain coat (especially for rainy period –June-August)
  • Head gear/hat/cap; sun and rain protection
  • Water pills – for extra caution in purifying stream; (boiled water is provided at all times during the trek)
  • Aspirin – incase of altitude sickness
  • Lots of socks
  • Warm clothes
 

OPTIONAL ITEMS TO BRING FOR A BHUTAN TREKKING

  • Sunglasses
  • Head gear
  • Folding umbrella (only for wet months — July and August)
  • One towel
  • Pillow case
  • Wet-packed tissue paper

One guide, cook, helper, horses/ yaks, tents, mattresses, meals and all other trekking accessories.
 
NOTE#: For trekking a load of 25 kg is allowed.
