Things To Know About An Aquarium Hamster Cage

If you are looking for something a little bit more interesting to use as a hamster cage than the run of the mill wire hamster cages or plastic hamster cages that you can purchase in your local pet store then you may well consider using an old aquarium as an alternative.  The aquarium hamster cage is actually quite a common occurrence as aquariums have some distinct characteristics that  make them very effective homes for you hamster.

The aquarium hamster cage provides good all round visitibility for your hamster, allows you to see into the nest where the hamster may be sleeping and is great for preventing draughts from causing health problems in your little pet.

There are however some drawbacks which you should also be aware of.  An aquarium hamster cage may not have great ventilation and as poor ventilation can be harmful to your hamster you should be careful to check this.  You may also encounter a problem with condensation and cleaning your cage properly may be awkward and unweildy to undertake.  However these problems all have solutions and are not sufficiently problematic to make the aquarium hamster cage impractical.
