We are thinking about buying a metal carport to enhance our home. We have an old wooden garage which is pretty much falling down – but we really don’t need a lock up garage – just a lightweight and cheap structure which will keep the rain and snow off the car will be just fine.  Carports keep the sun and other elements off your expensive vehicles – but cost a fraction of a traditional garage. If you have other storage options for secure lock-up spaces such as the attic or a tool shed then a carport could be a cost effective solution for your car.

Car ports come in kit form – and if you already have a concrete pad – maybe because of the old garage that just blew down – then it will be very cheap and easy to reuse the existing concrete to build a new car port. Check out what permits your local authority requires you to have though.
